My analysis of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged:
Not a sage, but has some excellent insights.
The main issue I have with Rand is an intellectual inconsistency, making her appear very weak in some places. That is, she knows quite obviously that submitting to an external authority is a diminishment of reason. Yet, she allows her best characters to fall in love with each other, which she also knows is the projecting of one's own ideals and imagery onto people, and submitting to them as one's ideals. Atlas Shrugged reads as low-brow romance in many places.
I think Rand was aware of the struggles of being a philosopher, and was unable to take that path. She still had too much attraction to unconsciousness and unreason. So she decided to remain in academia, and be married. As a consequence, one never hears her attack feminine-mindedness - even though she frequently promotes masculinity.
